Sound Surgical Technologies, the company behind Vaser Liposelection the Vaser ultrasound device, has developed the VaserShape system, a non-surgical device that helps reduce cellulite and inches in certain areas of the body. The VaserShape device is a non-invasive body contouring system powered by ultrasonic laser. The device is designed to disrupt fat cells beneath the skin by delivering ultrasound energy deep into the skin’s tissues.
Unlike other cellulite reduction systems, the VaserShape procedure uses two ultrasound heads positioned next to each other, and the ultrasound energy penetrates deep into the skin tissues to disrupt the fat cells. The power setting is low enough to cause minimal damage to the skin tissues, and most people see results right away.
Most patients will need to undergo at least five to seven treatments in order to see significant results, and many will require maintenance treatments every few weeks. Each treatment session is about 30 minutes long, and can be performed once per week. The VaserShape device is designed for those who are of average weight, but can be effective for those who are slightly overweight and are following a weight loss plan.
The painless procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, and there is no downtime involved. Patients can resume regular activities immediately after the procedure, and for many, it feels like a deep tissue, soothing massage. As of August 2010, the VaserShape treatment costs approximately $500 per treatment, and some doctors are offering discounts on treatment packages. Most packages cost between $2,500 to $4,000 depending on the number of sessions required and the doctor performing the procedure.
VaserShape offers a convenient, non-surgical alternative to liposuction and invasive cellulite removal treatments, and may soon be available at many medical spas, cosmetic surgery centers and plastic surgery offices around the country.

Over 80 percent of women are troubled by cellulite at some point in their lives, but there are now a number of cosmetic treatments available that can effectively reduce the appearance of dimples and bumps, and also improve the texture of the skin.
Thermage is an innovative cellulite reduction procedure that works by heating up the skin and shrinking collagen under the skin’s surface. The single, non-invasive treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and can dramatically improve the appearance of cellulite within a few weeks after the treatment.
Thermage has been featured in several magazines, as well as on WOLO ABC 25, with a demonstration by the Preva Laser Skin Center in Columbia, South Carolina. It is considered to be a safe, non-invasive procedure for tightening, contouring and toning the skin, and uses only a high-energy radiofrequency laser to heat up the skin’s tissues. Thermage can be administered to several parts of the body, including the face, stomach, buttocks, thighs and hands.
The Body by Thermage procedure is designed primarily to treat sagging skin and can effectively tighten and tone loose, wrinkled skin. Many plastic and cosmetic surgeons who perform liposuction advise patients to undergo the Thermage body contouring procedure so that any loose skin left over after the fat removal process can appear tighter and more contoured. Thermage treatments typically last about 45 minutes around the face and neck area, and up to 90 minutes for other parts of the body, depending on the size and area being treated.
Most people see results from the Thermage for cellulite treatment shortly after their procedure, but as the body produces more collagen and the skin tissues heal from the treatment, the patient will see progressive results over the course of two to six months. Results can last for several years, depending on the condition of the skin and the age of the patient.

As swimsuit season approaches, many women are self-conscious about cellulite and unsightly bulges. While cellulite generally does not disappear on its own, there are a number of body shaping and cellulite reduction treatments available at medical spas and cosmetic surgery centers around the country. Doctors point out that lifestyle changes and dietary habits are often necessary to prevent cellulite from occurring in the first place, and researchers now claim that they have developed a test that can predict cellulite formation.
DermaGenoma, Inc., has released the CelluliteDX Genetic Test for Moderate to Severe Cellulite (gynoid lipodystrophy) which can help doctors predict if a patient is at a high risk for developing Nurnberger-Muller grade 2 or greater cellulite. Results of this test will allow the doctor to develop an effective plan to reduce the appearance of cellulite, or prevent additional cellulite from forming. The cellulite treatment plan may include therapy, lifestyle changes, and changes in medication choices, such as avoiding hormone replacement therapy or birth control for a certain period of time. In some cases, laser therapy can help improve the texture and tone of the skin, and also slow down or stop the development of severe cellulite.
Dr. Enzo Emanuele, MD, Research fellow at the University of Pavaia, Italy, points out “Even though cellulite affects a large percentage of women, very few scientific studies have attempted to understand the underlying molecular and physiological basis. Our study of cellulite is a breakthrough in the understanding of the cause of cellulite, and ushers an era of new potential therapies for cellulite.” (Source: MedicalNewsToday.com)
The CelluliteDX system determines the presence or absence of a certain gene which predisposes the individual to developing cellulite. A positive testing means that the individual has a 70% chance of developing moderate to severe cellulite during their lifetime.

The SpaCapsule massage and relaxation station is a hydrotherapy and hydromassage unit designed to reduce stress and improve circulation throughout the body. It is currently available at many medical spas and cosmetic surgery centers across the country, and is often used as a complement to some types of body contouring treatments and procedures.
The capsule allows the individual to lie down in a comfortable, enclosed unit and enjoy a mechanical massage. Some sessions include the release of aromatherapy oils. Now, the company behind SpaCapsule reports that sessions may also offer some anti-cellulite and weight loss benefits.
Dermscan Group is currently running clinical trials on weight loss and cellulite reduction after a SpaCapsule session. According to Dr. Ella Frankel, Chairman and CEO of Simulated Environment Concepts, makers of the SpaCapsule, “We created the SpaCapsule with the intent to aid in weight-loss and cellulite treatment…and with hundreds of machines having been quietly sold over the past nine years, we’ve collected sufficient evidence to document the cellulite reduction and weight loss benefits of our SpaCapsule. However, we’re at the stage where we would rather have a reputable third party like the Dermscan Group verify our assertions, adding transparency.”
The SpaCapsule delivers a customized Oxygenated Hydro-Massage treatment which activates the tissues and increasers circulation. In some people, the pressure from the pulsating water jets are enough to strengthen and tone the body, and increase blood flow. The system may also be effective for boosting collagen and elastin production, which can create a shapelier, more toned body.
The SpaCapsule is currently available at several hotels and resorts, health and fitness centers, spas, salons, medical spas and some tanning salons. Each session can be customized to include aromatherapy, audio and video sessions, and deep massage and target various areas of the body during each treatment.

The Body by Thermage system is designed to target cellulite and assist with the body recontouring and reshaping process after weight loss or liposuction.
The non-invasive procedure works by increasing collagen production deep under the skin’s surface, and this causes a tighter, toned and more youthful appearance. Body by Thermage was recently featured as a cellulite procedure on Columbia ABC 25. The Preva Laser Skin Center in Columbia, South Carolina demonstrated the Thermage Cellulite tip, and explained how this procedure helps to shrink the body’s tissues and improves the appearance of cellulite.
The Body by Thermage procedure requires only a single treatment that lasts between 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the area being treated. There are no injections, drugs or surgery involved and patients can return to regular activities immediately after the procedure. The procedure uses powerful radiofrequency (RF) technology to heat the deeper layers of the skin, reaching deep into the subcutaneous tissue behind the dermis while keeping the surface of the skin intact. The heating process stimulates collagen production, and also causes a contraction that tightens existing collagen. Thermage, and the Body by Thermage procedure can be performed on all skin types.
Results are not noticeable immediately, but when the skin begins to heal and the tissues begin generating more collagen, the skin appears tighter, firmer and more toned. Unsightly cellulite is less noticeable, and may even disappear. Other effects of the procedure include an overall improved skin texture, reduction of sagging skin or extra bulges after weight loss or pregnancy, and an overall softening and toning of the skin.
Patients can also expect more natural-looking results than extensive surgical procedures such as a tummy tuck or liposuction, that often require additional body reshaping treatments in order to achieve the desired shape.
Body by Thermage can be performed anywhere on the body, including the knees, shoulders, back, glutes and backs of the legs.

Cellulite affects more than 90% of women of all sizes and body weights, and physicians believe that women get cellulite when the connective tissue of the skin forms a net around fatty tissue, creating a ‘lumpy’ appearance on the surface of the skin.
There are now several cosmetic procedures on the market that promise to help reduce the appearance of cellulite and can even help take off a few inches. Procedures including VelaShape, VelaSmooth and Thermage skin tightening treatments may help some women achieve a shapelier, slimmer appearance.
A Rachael Ray Show segment that ran in early March revealed three over-the-counter cellulite reduction treatments that promise to diminish the look of cellulite and improve the texture and tone of the skin. The show featured the Nutra Luxe Infrared Body Shaping Massager Lipo Reduction Set, the Totally You Seaweed Body Wrap Kit, and the Solidea MicroMassage Magic Pantie, a textured hosiery shaper that promises to increase circulation and tone up the skin.
While these products sound promising, experts recommend undergoing a cosmetic procedure that uses radio-freuqency energy and vacuum manipulation to help tighten and tone up the skin. One of the latest devices is the Reaction by Viora, a handheld device that increases circulation and strengthens skin tissues using radio frequency energy. VelaShape works in a similar way, and may help to stimulate collagen growth while tightening and toning the skin.
Most people need to undergo a series of six to eight treatments in order to achieve results, and the procedures feel like a warm, deep tissue massage. VelaShape, VelaSmooth, Thermage and the Reaction by Viora system are available at many medical spas, aesthetic surgery centers and cosmetic surgery centers around the United States, and cost between $200 to $500+ per treatment session. Some medical professionals do offer a discount when the individual purchases a package of products.

Today’s innovative cellulite treatments include procedures such as VelaSmooth and Endermologie, but these treatments typically don’t provide permanent results.
A new device that makes use of radiofrequency energy may soon become available at more medical spas and cosmetic surgery centers around the United States, and promises exceptional results with its innovative vacuum therapy and radiofrequency system.
The Viora Reaction device is a brand new cellulite treatment system that has recently received Health Canada certification. The device is designed with a CORE technology that delivers a combination of vacuum therapy and variable radiofrequency energy into the skin tissues, increasing blood circulation to the problem area and helping to break down stubborn fatty deposits that cause cellulite.
According to Viora’s CEO Josef Luzon, “We are confident in the Reaction’s ability to bring a true revolution in body contouring treatments and we are witness to incredible results every day.”
Patients who underwent the testing phase for the Viora Reaction system reported an 81 percent improvement in skin laxity and wrinkles, and a 55 percent improvement in the appearance of cellulite.
The procedure is non-invasive and most patients can expect to see results after just a single treatment. However, a series of treatments is recommended, as the skin can resume its original state within a few weeks without further intervention. The Viora Reaction device can be used on several different areas of the body including the legs, stomach, buttocks, face, hips and thighs. Most patients need to undergo at least six to eight sessions that last about 20 to 30 minutes each in order to see results.
The device has received FDA clearance in the United States, but is currently only available at select medical spas and cosmetic surgery centers around the country. In addition to undergoing regular treatments, the patient needs to eat a healthy diet and maintain a consistent exercise regimen.

People who have lost a significant amount of weight, or those that live an inactive lifestyle are prone to developing patches of cellulite.
Cellulite can appear on the hips, thighs and buttocks after weight loss, but is not uncommon in people who are at a healthy weight. While massage treatments and exercise can help to minimize the appearance of cellulite, there is still no permanent solution for getting rid of the unsightly pockets of fat.
The BellaContour device has recently been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for enhancing muscular blood flow and reshaping the body. The device is designed primarily to target cellulite, and makes use of ultrasound therapy and muscle stimulation to achieve results. The BellaContour deviceis currently available at the Shapes Body Contouring facility, owned by Dr. Robin Owen.
BellaContour works beyond the top layer of the skin to deliver a micro-massage and accelerate blood flow deep under the skin’s tissues. It is designed with a combination of Dual Program Mode and Real Time Resonance Technology to treat multiple layers of skin in one session. This technology is coupled with an electrode system to produce better results.
There are no known side effects to this treatment, and it can be operated by non-medical personnel. The goal of these treatments is to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, improve the quality of the skin and reduce joint pain. It can be used on both men and women, and results are contingent upon the person maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine.
Since the BellaContour system is an aesthetic device, treatments are not covered by insurance. The average rate for the treatments is $2,500 for a package of 10 procedures, and the aesthetic surgery center may offer financing options for eligible patients. More information about today’s innovative cellulite treatments can be found here.

Today’s innovative cellulite reduction techniques include deep tissue massage, Endermologie and VelaSmooth treatments that promise to smooth out and strengthen skin tissues.
John Lewis department stores in London are among several retailers that are now stocking anti-cellulite leggings and tights made by Scala, a company that produces tights and underwear made with bio-fir. These special tights are designed with a layer of crystals that emit infrared rays when they come into contact with the skin. The heat helps to increase the metabolism of the cells on the skin and increase blood flow, which in turn – according to Scala – helps to ‘melt the fatty layers’ beneath the skin tissues and help it move out of the body naturally.
According to the Cosmetic Surgery Bible, the Scala is introducing the tights and leggings after continued success of the Scala bio-fir knickers that are also designed to help reduce the appearance of dimpled skin.
While the Scala is now available at major retailers in the UK, Europe and online, the special shaping underwear and clothing line is not backed by clinical studies or extensive scientific research. Even the innovative anti-cellulite solutions such as Endermologie and VelaSmooth can only reduce the appearance of cellulite and will not ‘melt’ the fat under the skin.
Still, Scala knickers and shapewear have been selling out at a record pace after their introduction in retail stores in May, and continue to be popular amongst women of all ages. The anti-cellulite shapewear can be worn discreetly under most types of clothing and is available in a wide range of sizes to ensure a perfect fit.
Scala Bio Fir panties and shapewear offer an alternative to other shapewear lines such as Spanx which have been a big hit in the United States. U.S. residents can find this shapewear line online through vendors such as dianeslingerie.com and on eBay.

The SmoothShapes cellulite treatment is one of the newest non-invasive cosmetic procedures available in the United States, and has steadily gained popularity among women who struggling with unsightly cellulite on their thighs, buttocks or stomach.
Most recently, a star of the hit TV series “Real Housewives of Orange County” headed to the plastic surgery office to undergo a series of SmoothShapes treatments.
Jeanna Keough says she was becoming self-conscious about the cottage-cheese appearance of her skin, especially for pictures and close-ups on television. She’s been turning to Marina Plastic Surgery Associates in Los Angeles to take advantage of the benefits of this cellulite reduction treatment, and improve her figure.
SmoothShapes is one of the few non-invasive cellulite treatments that can help reduce inches and smooth out rippled and dimpled skin. It works with a combination vacuum device and laser heat energy that pulls up and stretches the skin and tissues, stimulates circulation, and strengthens the skin tissues overall. This proprietary technology is much more effective than standard cellulite body wraps, creams and full-body massages that claim to reduce cellulite. The intensive massage action of SmoothShapes can be very effective for body contouring, and may also be beneficial for those who have undergone liposuction and are looking for an effective skin tightening treatment.
Although SmoothShapes cannot get rid of cellulite permanently, it can help to tighten and smooth out the skin so that the treated area appears more toned and firm. SmoothShapes cellulite treatments are backed by over seven years of research and clinical trials, and the procedure is currently available at several medical spas and cosmetic surgery centers around the country.
In a recent press release about Ms. Keough’s treatments, the TV star says she “feels much more confident in her body.” An upcoming episode of Real Housewives will feature Jeanna talking about her SmoothShapes experience, and show off her results.
