Bollywood Star Undergoes Cosmetic Surgery

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on August 7, 2010

Bollywood star Celina Jaitley has undergone cosmetic surgery to enhance her facial features in preparation for her new film, “Hello Darling” that will be released next month. According to the Mid Day gossip site, Celina was spotted with her new look at a promotional event for the movie.

In 2007, the actress denied that she had had any type of cosmetic surgery and was not even interested in pursuing Botox or other types of plastic surgery to improve her appearance. However, recent reports indicate that the actress has undergone some type of facial plastic surgery or cosmetic enhancements to maintain her youthful looks.

Demand for cosmetic surgery in Bollywood’s circles is still going strong, and many of the top Bollywood stars have undergone liposuction, rhinoplasty, or laser skin resurfacing procedures to achieve a more westernized look. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has undergone liposuction and rhinoplasty, while actress Kareena Kapoor underwent surgery to achieve a sharper jaw line and have her teeth aligned. Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant has had silicone implants.

Plastic surgery is still frowned upon in some parts of India and the Middle East, but many Bollywood stars still go under the knife and are not afraid to share what procedures they have had with the public. According to RadioSargam.com, eight out of ten Bollywood celebrities have had some form of plastic surgery, and many Bollywood fans still question whether the beauty is natural or artificial.

Plastic surgeon Vijay Sharma claims that 80% of Bollywood actors and actresses achieve and maintain their looks by getting some type of cosmetic or plastic surgery. Popular procedures include breast enlargement, rhinoplasty and liposuction. Many celebrities do get cosmetic and plastic surgery after they have had children so that they can get back into their pre-pregnancy shape and secure a new role.

Sharon Stone Shares Botched Cosmetic Procedure Experience

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on May 27, 2010

Hundreds of celebrities choose to go under the knife each year, improving their appearance with popular procedures including Botox, liposuction, breast implants and tummy tucks.

However, not all procedures go smoothly, and many a celebrity has been put under the media spotlight to serve as an example of plastic surgery gone bad. Sharon Stone recently interviewed with More Magazine, and admitted that she had cosmetic surgery that ended up making her look “like a trout.”

The 52-year-old actress told Phil Bronstein, an editor of the San Francisco newspaper, that she began to feel insecure about her appearance after her divorce in 2004. She tells More Magazine, that “Nobody loves me. I’m 103. My life would be better if I had better lips.” The actress underwent lip augmentation surgery as a result, and her lips ended up becoming excessively large and unshapely. She admits that the procedure was done in her ‘moment of weakness’ and that she promises never to get plastic surgery again because the procedure made her look ‘like a trout.’

Botched procedures are nothing new, even for celebrities. Stars including Heidi Montag, Joan Rivers, Bruce Jenner, Dolly Parton and Donatella Versace have all been criticized and ridiculed about their cosmetic surgery makeovers in recent years, and some even serve as a poster child for bad plastic surgery. While some plastic surgeons can perform reversal procedures, some celebs just aren’t that lucky. In many cases, the botched procedure means the celebrity needs to spend a significant amount of time recovering while nature takes its course, or undergo a completely different procedure to correct and modify the results of the previous one.

In spite of the risks involved, celebrities and the average consumer alike are still making their way to the plastic surgery office for liposuction, Botox, breast implants and other procedures. As the economy recovers, many consumers are ready to make the investment for plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures – even with the inherent risks involved.

Olympic Gold Medalist Rumored to Have Undergone Plastic Surgery

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on March 3, 2010

Kim Yu-Na, the 19-year-old figure skater from South Korea who is the reigning figure skating world champion and a 2010 Winter Olympics gold medalist is rumored to have undergone plastic surgery to enhance her looks. A recent story in the Daily World Buzz points out that since Ms. Yu-Na is a personality and celebrity in her country, there is a great emphasis on her looks and the Asian beauty may have undergone plastic surgery procedures to achieve a more westernized appearance.

Kim Yu-Na is the first ever South Korean figure skater to win the ISU Junior Grand Prix Series, and she has won several other competitions and awards over the course of her young career. The young star earned $7.5 million in 2009. She’s under a tremendous amount of competitive pressure, and has already appeared in ads and commercials to promote beauty products, and her strong Asian features have helped her reach a wide audience at home, and overseas.

Still, the rumors that Kim Yu-Na has undergone plastic surgery are still unconfirmed. Many Asian men and women do pursue plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures such as the eyelid lift and eyelid surgery to create a heavier-looking lid that looks like the Western ideal. Others may undergo facelift surgery, rhinoplasty or a forehead lift.

Industry statistics indicate that approximately 76 percent of Korean women in their 20s and 30s have undergone plastic surgery at some point in their lifetime, and many opt for “double-eyelid surgery” to achieve their ideal look. Over 25 percent of Korean college graduates also pursue plastic surgery to enhance their image and secure a better job. Interestingly, a doctoral dissertation published by researchers at Kyung Hee University’s Clothing and Textiles department reports that 69.96 percent of female survey respondents age 18 and over had suffered a significant amount of stress because of their appearance.

Helen Mirren Says She Has No Problem with Plastic Surgery

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on February 22, 2010

Helen Mirren recently confessed that if she wasn’t in the Hollywood spotlight, she would have undergone plastic surgery years ago. The Oscar-winning actress recently told the Times that she would go under the knife to improve her appearance, and really does not have any issues with plastic surgery.

Mirren is one of several dozen celebrities to admit that plastic and cosmetic surgery is acceptable. Many celebs  have undergone procedures such as tummy tucks, breast augmentation, nose surgery and facelift surgery to improve their appearance, ward off the signs of aging or just to land a new role in a movie.

Others are less open about sharing the outcomes of their procedure, and many are completely against plastic surgery of any kind, preferring instead to maintain their natural appearance and let nature take its course. The plastic surgery argument continues to be a hot topic among Hollywood celebs, and stars such as Jane Fonda and Sally Field prefer to maintain their natural look and embrace the aing process instead. Jane Fonda is now in her 70s and says that she would “prefer to age gracefully and not fight the natural aging process…I have chosen not to have any more plastic surgery. Sally Field and I have kind of made a pact about that.” (Source: SimplyAntiAging.com)

Still, stars that do go under the knife while they are in the media spotlight run the risk of becoming the next “plastic surgery gone wrong” story. Some of the most famous examples of bad plastic surgery include Tara Reid’s tummy tuck, Pamela Anderson’s breast implants, Donatella Versace’s lip augmentation procedure, Melanie Griffith’s Botox facelift, and Jocelyn Wildenstein’s facelift and lip augmentation procedure. Sigourney Weaver Says No to Plastic Surgery

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on February 4, 2010

Some celebrities are very open about the fact that they have had plastic or cosmetic surgery procedures such as breast implants, facelift surgery or Botox injections, but others hide the fact that they’ve gone under the knife. Some legendary celebs are simply saying “no” to plastic surgery altogether, preferring instead to let nature take its course. Sigourney Weaver, now in her 60s, says that she has maintained her youthful looks without any type of plastic or cosmetic surgery.

In 2007, Sigourney Weaver interviewed with People Magazine and stated that plastic surgery simply wasn’t for her. Recently, she reported to the Daily Record, a Scottish newspaper, that she enjoys regular exercise and takes good care of her skin. Still, some plastic and cosmetic surgeons agree that she could enjoy a more youthful look with a few quick cosmetic fixes.

In a recent post on MakeMeHeal.com, board-certified Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer and facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and rhinoplasty specialist Dr. Paul Nassif of Beverly Hills provided some expert recommendations  for Sigourney Weaver. Dr. Shafer suggests that Sigourney Weaver have Botox Cosmetic treatments to treat the deep lines in her forehead and crow’s feet around her eyes, as well as lip augmentation in her upper lip to improve the contours of her face.

Currently, some of the top “quick fix” solutions for getting rid of wrinkles and reversing the signs of aging include Botox, Dysport injections, laser skin resurfacing and Thermage skin tightening treatments. Many celebrity legends including Goldie Hawn and Harrison Ford have jumped aboard the plastic surgery bandwagon in recent years to take off a few decades from their looks and improve their appearance.

Still, others would prefer to age gracefully the natural way. Stars including Jane Fonda and Sally Field are among the many celebs who are simply steering clear of plastic and cosmetic surgery, and are committed to maintaining their natural looks for life.

Heidi Montag Admits Addiction to Plastic Surgery

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on January 21, 2010

Hundreds of celebrities choose to go under the knife year after year, but only a handful will admit to having that nip and tuck. For some, the obsession with perfection and achieving that ideal figure quickly spirals into an addiction.

Heidi Montag, the 23-year old reality TV star who has also appeared in Playboy magazine, has had multiple plastic surgery procedures including breast augmentation, rhinoplasty and chin reduction surgery, and according to People Magazine, is officially addicted.

In an interview with People Magazine, Heidi admits that she has had several procedures in the last few years and that she is “beyond obsessed.”

According to MakeMeHeal.com, Heidi underwent a total of ten procedures on November 20, 2007 just to achieve her slimmer and more svelte figure. The site reports that her lineup of procedures included a mini brow lift, Botox injections, fat injections in the cheeks, chin reduction surgery, neck liposuction, liposuction around her waist, hips and thighs, breast augmentation and breast augmentation revision.

Just nine weeks after her surgery, the star had already set her sights on larger implants.

Since Heidi is just 23 years old, many plastic surgeons believe that she is simply too young to undergo this many procedures and that she may be setting herself up for a plastic surgery disaster.

Many celebrities have already experienced their fair share of surgeries gone wrong. Hollywood starlets and celebs including Joan Rivers, Sophia Loren, Lisa Rinna, Nikki Cox and Janice Dickinson have all been criticized for going overboard with cosmetic surgery and are now role models for plastic surgery that’s one too far. Still, thousands of men and women in Hollywood and beyond continue to head to the doctor’s office in hopes of achieving their ideal figure, perfect skin and wrinkle-free appearance.

Gordon Ramsay Undergoes Cosmetic Surgery of the Chin

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on November 7, 2009

After American Idol judge Simon Cowell made a remark about Gordon Ramsay’s chin, the tough chef decided that his future success may have something to do with his appearance – and has undergone plastic surgery to improve his looks.

According to a recent report in Sky News, Gordon Ramsay underwent a painful chin procedure to correct the lines and grooves around his chin and jawline, and also had several Botox injections to get rid of the lines and furrows on his scalp. The celebrity chef says that his mini cosmetic surgery makeover was the result of the comments from colleague Simon Cowell.

The deep grooves that were once on Ramsay’s chin may have been corrected with a modified version of a facelift or a set of dermal fillers that can help to fill out facial tissues and create a smoother, more sculpted appearance. This is a popular procedure for both men and women who are undergoing the aging process, and the use of dermal fillers offers instant results.

Smile lines, frown lines and other signs of aging can also be corrected with laser skin resurfacing procedures, a combination of dermal fillers that create a ‘liquid facelift’, and dermabrasion or microdermabrasion treatments. Almost all skin types can benefit from these types of procedures, and injectables such as Juvederm, Hydrelle and Botox present few side effects.

Gordon Ramsay isn’t the only celebrity who is outspoken about going under the knife to improve his looks. Celebrities including Joan Rivers,  Britney Spears, Jane Seymor and Lindsay Lohan have all made public statements regarding their nips and tucks, and many celebrities maintain a routine schedule of anti aging treatments to preserve their youthful looks.

Among the most sought-after procedures by celebrities are liposuction, breast augmentation, facelift surgery and facial recontouring.

Hollywood Star Wants to Ban Botox for Actors

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on July 17, 2009

harpersbazaarIt’s no secret that many Hollywood stars and starlets are frequent customers of the top plastic and cosmetic surgeons in the country. While some go under the knife to get rid of unwanted pounds, get breast implants or get a facelift, others stick to less-invasive procedures in order to maintain a more natural, youthful appearance.

Botox continues to be a popular procedure for actors and actresses who want to get rid of deep lines and wrinkles on their forehead, but for some, the injections turn into an addiction where the patient continues to get treatments well after results have been achieved. The treatment takes only a few minutes to perform, and provides instant results. It’s not only popular in Hollywood, but also is the most sought-after minimally-invasive procedure in the United States. Now, one Hollywood actress wants to ban Botox use among all actors and actresses, claiming that it is like “steroids are for sportsmen.”

Does Botox give actors, actresses and models an unfair advantage in an image-conscious industry? Actress Rachel Weisz seems to think so.

According to a recent article in Harper’s Bazaar UK, Rachel Weisz points out that good acting requires the use of genuine expressions. Using Botox “irons out” the frown and makes people look very artificial. Ms. Weisz also reports that she is much more comfortable acting and presenting herself in England rather than the “appearance obsessed” United States.

Experts say a Botox does have the potential to fuel an addiction. A study conducted by Dr Carter Singh, a psychologist at Britain’s Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, and plastic surgeon Martin Kelly,  of London Plastic Surgery Associates in 2006 reports that many patients return to the office well before the effects of the treatment have been worn off, and continue to demand additional injections. The study found that four in ten people who use Botox end up having a compulsion to have more Botox on a regular basis. (Source: ConsumerAffairs.com)
