Michigan Cosmetic Surgeon Offers Small Scar Facelift

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on March 18, 2010

Many people that want to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, and take a few years off their appearance turn to facelift surgery for a complete transformation. Traditional facelift surgery offers several benefits but can be a painful procedure that requires a lot of downtime and may result in permanent scars that are difficult to hide. Many cosmetic surgeons now offer a procedure called the small scar facelift that delivers similar results with minimal incisions.

A Michigan Cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Robert Burke, is among the first in Ann Arbor to offer the small scar facelift and reports that patients are seeing exceptional results. Dr. Burke explains, “I place small incisions in front and behind the ear…the incision in front of the ear is hidden in a natural skin fold.” The muscles are then naturally tightened as the skin is lifted back to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Dr. Burke performs this procedure using local anesthesia, which means patients can go home the same day and recovery quickly than with a traditional facelift that requires general anesthesia.

The small scar facelift can be performed with other procedures including blepharoplasty, which helps rejuvenate the upper eye area, and CO2 laser resurfacing which helps to smooth out the skin below the eye and around the cheeks and jawline to create a more youthful appearance.

The small scar facelift costs between $4,000 to $5,000, and most patients need about a week to ten days to recover from the procedure.

The best candidates for the procedure are individuals in their early forties that want to look younger, and those who do not smoke or have any severe health or medical conditions that would interfere with the effects of the procedure. Patients need to wear a headband for about 24 hour after their procedure to support recovery.
