American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Releases “New You” Magazine

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on January 16, 2010

The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery debuts the “New You” magazine this month, a publication dedicated to educating consumer about the latest developments in plastic and cosmetic surgery. The magazine will feature a wide range of procedures with an objective view on procedure costs, side effects, risks and benefits.

According to Patrick McMenamin, President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and the magazine’s editor, “the magazine will be about ‘real doctors, performing real procedures’ with an emphasis on giving potential patients a set of realistic expectations about plastic surgery…stressing patient safety will be a high priority.” The editor-in-chief emphasizes that the magazine and website that complements the publication will not be “celebrity driven” but designed to provide everyday consumers with solid information about the latest procedures.

Jeff Knezovich, executive vice president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, states, “Our goal is to educate the public about their choices in cosmetic procedures. Whether our readers want to reduce wrinkles to look younger, or change something more fundamental with a facelift or liposuction, we want them to be fully informed about the costs, the results and the safety issues.”

The first edition of the magazine includes a questions and answers section about operations that a patient might consider, a “Doctor’s Notebook” that offers a doctor’s perspective on some of the latest treatments, and “Famous Faces” where doctors and editors take a close look at some of the latest celebrity cosmetic surgery procedures.

Other highlights of the magazine include: insights on safety and how to deal with negative results or bad plastic surgery procedures, advice on how to choose a physician you can trust, interviews with the top cosmetic surgeons in the country, and real-life patient experiences.

New You is published by New You Publishing, a division of Knightsbridge Media, LLC.
