Teeth Whitening Tops Cosmetic Makeover Wishlists for 2010

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on January 5, 2010

For the thousands of Americans  considering plastic or cosmetic surgery in 2010, procedure such as tummy tucks, breast implants and Botox treatments are surprisingly lower on the list than teeth whitening.

According to Harris Interactive, a consumer polling agency, of the 2,227 U.S. adults surveyed, about 52% of adults would choose teeth whitening followed by tummy tuck surgery and liposuction.

The survey reports that 55% of men and 51% of women would be interested in teeth whitening procedures in 2010 if money were not an issue. 29% of adults surveyed would undergo a tummy tuck or liposuction, while 25% would sign up for hair removal treatments.

Other popular procedures that make the top ten list for 2010 include face lift surgery, laser skin treatment, hair replacement, cellulite treatment, breast implants and Botox injections.

Teeth whitening procedures are among the most affordable cosmetic enhancement procedures available and treatments are available at medical spas, cosmetic dentistry centers and even some spas and hair salons around the United States.

Today’s innovative treatments include the BriteSmile teeth whitening system and Zoom! teeth whitening procedures.

In-office procedures can cost about $1,000 for the complete treatment plan, while in-home treatments such as whitening strips, in-home tray bleaching and treatments at a kiosk can cost between $25 to $150 per session.  In-office procedures can be performed in under an hour, while at home whitening sessions can last between two to three hours depending on the system.

Dental insurance typically does not cover the cost of a teeth whitening procedure, which is why this treatment falls under the elective treatment category. Since teeth bleaching is a chemical process, the teeth do need to be in relatively healthy condition in order for the treatment to work. Many dentists require the patient to undergo an oral examination before the treatment can begin. In most cases, the teeth whitening treatment offers instant results.

  2. Today there are a number of teeth whitening product & technology are use by dentist. Among them in my view Lassers technology for teeth whitening is best. Lasers are used to speed up the in-office teeth whitening procedures. Because it use a peroxide bleaching solution that applied to the tooth surface, is “activated” by laser energy, which speeds up of the whitening process.
