Hybrid Tummy Tuck Gives Mom Her Six-Pack Back

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on December 9, 2008

tummy-tuckMillions of women undergo extensive cosmetic and plastic surgery to reshape their bodies after pregnancy, but managing the excess weight, loose skin and stretch marks can be a costly and painful process.

The tummy tuck is one of the most sought-after procedures after pregnancy because it gets rid of excess fatty tissue around the stomach, reconstructs the abdominal wall and also gets rid of excess skin that causes the ‘baby pooch.’  Now, some doctors are experimenting with a new technique that allows them to achieve the results of the conventional tummy tuck without performing extensive surgery.

The ‘Hybrid Tummy Tuck’ is performed by plastic surgeon Brent Moelleken in Beverly Hills, California, a procedure that gets rid of the pregnancy pooch by tightening up the entire layer of skin tissue for Moms who do not have a lot of loose skin.

A full abdominoplasty typically requires a long hip-to-hip incision above the pubic line which allows the surgeon to remove excess fat and reposition the skin tissues when creating a smoother and streamlined silhouette.  However, this type of extensive surgery is most appropriate for women who have a lot of excess weight and skin leftover from pregnancy; recovery time can take 2-3 weeks, and the procedure does leave behind a noticeable scar.

The Hybrid Tummy Tuck is designed for patients who have gained less than 35 pounds during pregnancy and only leaves behind a ‘C-section-type-scar’ on the lower abdomen.  If the patient had a C-section, the surgeon can use the same incision in order to perform the procedure. The Hybrid Tummy Tuck costs an average of $15,000 at Dr. Moelleken’s office, and downtime can be as little as 1-2 weeks.

Dr. Moelleken explains that the best way to restore the pre-pregnancy figure still involves exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet, but surgery can be used to reshape and enhance the figure as part of a healthy lifestyle.

  1. I lost 84 lbs I have alot of extra skin after having 2 kids I would love to feel sexy again, My breast are to big and the sag too. I know I can get the insurance to pay for the reduction but not necessarily the tummy tuck. How to I get both paid for? I do not have any money, not even to do payments.
