More Men Pursuing Quick Fix with Cosmetic Surgery

Whether they’re competing for a new position at work or setting foot on the dating scene, more men are turning to plastic and cosmetic surgery to enhance their looks – and give them the competitive edge.
“Over the last decade, it has become much more socially acceptable for men to undergo cosmetic surgery,” says Wisconsin plastic surgeon and founder of Fox Valley Plastic Surgery Dr. David Janssen. “In today’s society, men are expected to look young, healthy, and stylish, so they are turning to a wide variety of products and services, like cosmetic surgery, to help them look their best.” (Source: 24-7 Press Release)
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that over 1.1 million men pursued cosmetic procedures in 2007, and this number is steadily increasing as more men turn to ‘quick fixes’ such as BOTOX to remove frown lines, facial rejuvenation treatments to buff away old-looking skin, and minimally invasive liposuction to achieve a chiseled six-pack.
As cosmetic procedures for men continue to become more acceptable – and affordable – the upward trends may encourage men to pursue a series of treatments such as laser skin resurfacing, Thermage skin tightening treatments and laser hair removal.
