Safetox Hopes to Be BOTOX Alternative for Wrinkle Removal

Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on June 25, 2008

If you’ve been thinking about BOTOX treatments to help you get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, one company believes you don’t have to settle for the injectable just yet.

Safetox is steadily gaining interest in the U.S., a unique-looking headband designed to give your forehead muscles a rigorous workout – and help get rid of wrinkles in teh process.  Safetox is meant to be used for just five minutes per day to ‘educate your muscles and restore the muscular dynamics of a youthful face’.

The Safetox Wrinkle Removal Device

The contraption can be used with other anti-wrinkle creams and even collagen or hyularonic acid fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm.

But does Safetox really work?

Clinical studies published by STX-MED report an average reduction of 8.9% of wrinkle depth with some people showing a 83.3% reduction after 6-12 weeks.  Safetox has also been a part of several in-depth research studies spanning over five years, and has gained popularity in France and other areas of Europe.  It is slowly picking up speed in the U.S. markets, but consumers are undecided as to how valuable this ‘treatment’ really is.

‘Stephanie K’, reports on her experience on the beauty blog at RealSelf.com.  She indicates that her first 10-minute experience led to a dramatic improvement around the forehead and eyes, and using the Safetox kit consistently for four months helped to lighten up undereye circles and freshened up her face considerably.

A closer look at the Safetox device reveals that it actually does the opposite of what a BOTOX injection would do.  BOTOX works by ‘freezing’ the muscles in place in order to reduce frown line development and smooth out the skin.  Safetox passes electrical energy through the muscles to stimulate them for improved circulation and, potentially, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles as a result.
